Rules:
1) Speed Sailing is fun. This event is designed for sailors
of all skill levels. We will be there to answer questions
and get you started right!
2) This Event is FREE!
3) YOU decide when you want to race. We will meet you on
the beach with a GPS unit ready to go.
NOTE:
Please contact us one day in advance to:
a) schedule the Timekeeper.
b) reserve a GPS unit if needed.
4) There is no required course. You may sail anywhere on
the lake.
NOTE:
We will require the racers use a launching point assigned
by the timekeeper. This is necessary
for 1) proper registration of the racers; 2) completing the
Liability Release Form; 3) the Timekeeper to inspect and
reset the GPS units; 4) downloading the GPS data files
between racers; and 5) so that everyone gets a chance to
try out all the great demo gear.
This is a safety issue. We need to sail as a group, and
keep a close eye on the racers.
5) All
runs must be witnessed. The Timekeeper will
inspect and reset every GPS before and after each use. We
will do our best to have officials available 7 days a week
throughout the season.
6) Each competitor will receive a ranking based on the
"Average
of the Fastest 5 Ten Second Runs".
We perform the calculations by computer using a careful
manual analysis of the GPS data. This is a time consuming
task, but is the most precise method of measuring top
speed.
We will then post your speeds in the appropriate Category
on the Results Page. It is exciting to see an exact profile
of your runs.
7) To be eligible for Youth Category you must be not more
than 18 years old on April 15, 2007.
8) Speed Sailing is a sport that may include risk. Please
sail responsibly. We encourage the use of a life jacket and
a safety helmet. We will provide you with a helmet if you
want one.
9) We are not responsible for accidents.
