Hello Fellow Windsurfers,
It is time for an update on Speed Surfing in Worthington
Minnesota.
We had some great sessions recorded in June and early July. The
winds of mid July and August have been flat.
Former Women's World Formula World Champion Allison
Shreeve of Sydney Australia recorded a speed of 26.24
knots while on the Race Course, for the US Nationals held here in
Worthington June 11-15. These were challenging conditions, with
winds gusting over 35 knots. She was sailing the new Starboard 160
Formula Board and Severne 9.5 Formula Sail, currently being
campaigned as a contender for the Olympic Rig for the 2012 Olympics
in Weymouth England.
Allison remains our current Women's Leader, with Karen
Marriott of Colorado in a
close second at 22.78 knots, also on Formula Gear.
Note: the Overall World's Record for GPS Speed Surfing on Formula
Gear is just over 31 knots. Congratulations to Allison and Karen
for these great sessions.
Guy
Miller of Austin Texas is our current Overall Leader
with a speed of 31.46 knots. He is closely followed by
Chris
Lock, Arden
Anderson, and Richard
White.
A new racer for 2008 is David
Knight of Fridley Minnesota, with a speed of 29.78
knots. David has not yet found ideal winds, and feels he can go
quite a bit faster. He is also looking forward to testing the new
Carbon Art Speed Boards.
We expect quite a Shoot-Out for the $2500 in Cash Prizes to be
given to the Top GPS Racers for 2008.
Todd
Selby of Abilene Texas is the current Leader in the
Youth Category, with a speed of 24.6 knots, also on Formula
Gear.
We also wanted to recognize Jay Salzman,
Peter
Bonello, and Ron Kern, who all have
also recorded great sessions on their Formula Gear.
The new GPS Speed Surfing Web Site has been great. There have been
many new features added.
