Newsletter
(Updated November 6, 2005)

Want to serve your church but not sure how?
There are several lists on the table in the Narthex with
opportunities to help your church by serving as an usher, greeter,
scripture reader, etc. and a list for bulletin and newsletter
sponsors. Please consider this opportunity to serve your church. |

Mission Updates
During the month of November, we will be collecting pajamas for
Children's Inn in children's sizes 2-14--both girl and boys needed.
Good , used pajamas will also be accepted. So many of the children
who come to the Inn come without their mothers or a lot of clothes.
A pair of clean, warm pajamas mean a lot. If you can't bring a pair
of pajamas, you can write a check to UMW Missions and mark it
Children's Inn and we will do the shopping for you. There will be a
box for the pajamas in the Narthex.
Also, an upcoming project will be Shoebox
Christmas for the Children of the Harvest. We will be sending out
information about Advent in the coming weeks. Also, I received a
final count on kits and money received for the 2005 Ingathering. It
is on the bulletin board if you would like to read this information.
Keep missionaries of the United Methodist Church in your prayers as
well as your own mission committee. Thank you for your prayers and
support.~ Birdie, Allen, Marcella, Kathy, Jeanine, and Phyllis. |

The Christmas program this year is entitled, "A
Star is Born." It is a children's musical that teaches us
to "get down" in humility and allow God to use us for His glory.
This program synopsis goes something like this:
"As the children prepare for the television
production, they lead us through many shining moments, such as "The
Greatest Story ever Told", "We Three Kings", and the heart-warming
testimony of "My Life's Review." When Sophia , the actress
hired from 1-800-BIG-STAR arrives to play Mary, the director, Mr.
Spielman, and the other actors try to help her understand that the
"Star" of any Christmas production is Jesus Christ."
This years program is going to be a little bit different than in the
past. Tammy Van Bockern and I are actually going to combine physical
characters and puppets in the play. I think that it is going to be
tons of fun for the children, and very entertaining for the audience
members that come to see the production.
Rehearsals are held EVERY Wednesday evening
from 5:30pm to 6:30 pm, in the Sanctuary. I hope to see everyone
there! It is going to be GREAT!! Blessings to you all, Jaime. |

Youth Group News
MS & HS Youth Thanksgiving Supper is Wednesday, Nov 16, 6:30 PM.
A reminder will be sent home on what to bring. The 3M class will be
providing a Thanksgiving meal for a Canton Family again this year.
The children will provide the turkey, stuffing, vegetables, and
bread, as well as Canton cash (this can be purchased at Farmers
State Bank). I will be sending reminders home as to what you are to
bring. Please have the items at church on Wed, Nov 16th: so we can
deliver the food to the family that day.
This years youth mission trip will be to the
Tree of Life Ministry on the Rosebud Reservation right here in
South Dakota. However, this year we would like to make this a
multi-generational trip. We would like to see 20 to 30 participants.
Middle school students are invited as long as a parent is
participating with them. I will be speaking with the UMM, UMW, and
Missions groups to ask for volunteers as well as funding for this
trip. Cost for the trip is $200. per person plus funds for
food for our meals which we will prepare ourselves each day. The
dates for the trip will be Sunday, July 2 through Saturday, July
8. Please pray about this mission trip and ask if this is
something you should be a part of. If you would like more
information, please contact Lisa at 764-6058, or you can check out
the Tree of Life Ministry web site at
