To all members and friends at CUMC:
The dictionary tells us this about the word hole; a cavity
in a solid; an opening or perforation through something; an ugly squalid or
depressing swelling; a deep or isolated place of confinement; a bad
situation from which it seems difficult to extract oneself; a predicament,
bind.
All of us have holes in our lives where we need God's
healing touch. Perhaps your is of a physical need, fighting an illness,
cancer, waiting on test results, or learning to live with a disability or it
may be something that affects your living situation.
We can also have emotional holes in our lives and need God
to help us become whole. Is your heart broken because you have lost someone
and you are grieving? Do you realize that grief can also occur because of a
job loss, a strained relationship that needs to be repaired, or having to
move and leave home, friends, and community? Are you a fearful person and
have trouble trusting again? Many people have been abused and struggle to
move on after devastation. Maybe you are lonely and need God's embrace, or
are battling with depression and need God's direction.
Spiritual holes in our lives can leave us wavering and open
to Satan's attacks. Have we given God complete control over our lives or are
there areas in which we are holding back? Do we have a personal relationship
with Christ and are we where He wants us to be spiritually? Maybe
forgiveness is lacking in your life. Forgiveness for others who may have
hurt you and you need to forgive them to be able to move on. We are all
human and even in church we can hurt each other and cause pain to others
unintentionally.
All these things Satan uses to keep us from becoming whole
through Christ. We, as a church, are going to have the opportunity to lay
these things before God! On Sunday, March 13th at 10:00 AM, we will have a
special healing service as part of our morning worship. As individuals we
can grow spiritually through healing and as a church strengthen our stand
against Satan. Praise God fro His son Jesus who makes all this possible.
I will keep all of you in prayer as we examine our hearts
over the next few weeks.
In Christ's Love,
Colleen Josyln, Worship Committee
