Leonard came to Willow Lake at a youg age to make his home with his grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Ludwig Rasmusson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Willow Lake High School. Leonard was united in marriage to Gladys Thompson on March 8 1942, at Vienna, SD. To this union one son, Dennis, was born. During World War 11 Leonard served in the U S Air Force. After his discharge he farmed for a few years near Willow Lake. He owned and operated the Mobil Service Station in Willow for about 14 years. Leonard was then employed by the State Auditor's Office from 1966 until he retired in 1982. During that period of time Leonard and Gladys lived in Pierre. In 1983 the couple moved to Mitchell. Leonard was currently a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell and was a member of the Johnny-Fonken American Legion Post No. 113 at Willow Lake.
